Would you recommend Caen or Bayeux (or somewhere else) as base for traveling around Normandy for 5 days?
If so, could you recommend some high-end hotels in or near those cities with KING beds? I've been looking at countryside chateaus as well, but if you think it's better to stay in the city please let me know.
We will most likely be taking a train from Paris, then renting a car in whichever city we end up in.
We definitely want to see all the best of Normandy, including my husband's grandmere's childhood home in Evreux, all of the D-Day sites and Monet's home in Giverny.
