Buying tickets for Eiffel Tower

I'm trying to purchase advance tickets for Eiffel Tower. For my date, the available tickets go on sale on Friday morning, 8:30 am.
Is this 8:30 am Paris time?

They would have to select one time zone, instead of all the time zones in the world.
Probably that would be the Paris time zone, non?
Looks like you'll be staying up a little late that night.
I don't know, just sayin'.

Just curious. June tickets have been for sale for over a month, and July was not put up at 8:30 am Paris time. What exactly is your date?

I put the date in my calendar so I wouldn't forget. Checked availability that day and everything was available and wide open. I thought: no sweat, I can wait. Waited 3 days and tried again. It was completely sold out.
Moral. Book your tix the day availability opens!

I bought my tickets last night for June 26. We got up at 12:15 A.M. pst The time slot I wanted was sold out before I was able to access the site. I started a few minutes early. We did get tickets at an earlier time but had lots of problems trying to put in our cell phone number with the country code. Thank goodness we found some suggestions on the Rick Steves web site to help us. Tomorrow I will attemp to book tickets for Passport Versaille. Wish me luck!

I have read all the forum posts on this topic and am still confused. Hoping for tickets in July . Will the whole month go on sale at once or is it exactly 90 days before each day and it will open day by day. Several posts seem to indicate that yet ,as a previous poster said, the whole month of June has been open to purchase for quite some time . Thanks

I can see why this has confused me and others. One could easily get the process to start on any day in June for the last month. It was only when I went all the way through the process that I discovered that it would give a specific time/date that tickets would be available.

I went last year and booked my tickets through the website. I did some research first and found out when tickets went on sale. I forgot but I believe it's 90 days before, I maybe wrong, it might be 60 days. Once I found out the time they went on sale, I bought my tickets the night (for me) that they went on sale. Doing my research, I found that they sold out fast so I used both my computer and my wife's, team work, and was able to get the time and day that I wanted. They do sell out fast depending on the time you want to go so if you plan on buying them online, don't wait to long.

On another note, having you tickets in advance is great because it let's you get past the lines but you are locked for that time and if the day is not nice, your views of the city may not be great. There are positives and negatives to buying in advance. Of course, you could always take the stairs to the second floor, always short lines there. Good luck and have a great trip.

Tickets become available to buy exactly 90 days before your tour date at 8:30 am Paris time. You will therefore need to purchase at 2:30 am Eastern US time. If you wait until 2:35 am, there is a good chance it will be sold out. Tour companies buy in bulk. Don't go by what the site says is available, because, as said in a previous response, you don't know until you actually place an order. Also, do as previously suggested and enter a practice order to ensure you will have no delays in entry.

When I did mine last year, I started a few minutes early to allow for my slow entries.

I purchased tickets for my trip at 2:30 am eastern, 90 days in advance. All time slots for that day sold out in 20 min. Good luck!

Oh, Boy! I may be in BIG trouble, I recently booked 21 day BOE and did not know you have to buy tickets for Eiffel Tower. This is top on my wife's "to do" list. I checked the itinerary and Eiffel isn't on there!!! I assumed three days in Paris we would end up there. I could be in trouble. I just Googled dinner @ Eiffel and and all kinds of mess comes up. I know I'm ignorant, any advise info would be great Thanks Craig

Craig, it's not so much that you HAVE to order tickets in advance but you need to do that unless you want to waste a LOT of time standing in a very long line. This is the website for ordering tickets:

http://www.toureiffel.paris/en.html

As you googled dinner @ Eiffel, I'm assuming you wish to have dinner at one of the restaurants? The link for reservations is also included in the website above. You have a choice to two which take reservations: Le Jules Verne (2nd floor; very expensive) and 58 Tour Eiffel (1st floor). Dinner reservations at either include lift tickets for the tower BUT not up to the viewing platform at the top. You are also not ensured a window seat unless you specifically book one - for a price - at 58 Tour Eiffel.

If you are fit, you can climb to the first (328 steps) or second levels (an additional 340 steps) : the queue is quite a lot shorter than for the elevators. Many visitors actually prefer these two levels as they allow you to pick out the landmarks, and there's a lot more space than at the top. These tickets are inexpensive, and cannot be purchased online. There's also the option of purchasing tickets to the top from the first and 2nd floors. Taking the stairs will allow you to choose the day and approx. time of your visit where tickets purchased in advance always run the risk of ending up with a rainy day. You could also have lunch while you're up there.

If neither of these options work for you, there are companies - Viator, for instance - who offer skip-the-line tickets. The prices are quite a lot more expensive than purchasing from the Eiffel website but if those are all booked and your wife simply MUST get up in that tower, then they may be worth the price.

But something to consider? One of the best things about the Eiffel is seeing it in context with the Paris skyline - which you can't do when you're ON it. It's clearly visible from many points around Paris, and my personal favorite spot is from the Trocadero at night…for free. You can also see it up close and at interesting angles from Champs de Mars park at the base.

And two more options: from Monteparnasse Tower (Tour Montparnasse) and Arc de Triomphe. Monteparnasse is the 2nd tallest building in Paris, and lines for their viewing area will be a LOT shorter. It is also, IMHO, sort of an unattractive intrusion on the Paris skyline so one that's nice NOT to have the photos. HA!

Arc de Triomphe has an entry fee but is open late into the evening so it gives you something to do after hours, and another nice eyeful of the tower all lit up. There's also a very nice view of Paris rooftops and down Champs-Élysées from up there. You do not need to purchase tickets in advance.

We've chosen not to buy advance tickets for our trip in June. But here's what I noticed in noodling around on the ticket site earlier:

Yes, the tickets sell out quickly as soon as they go on sale. As mentioned, I'm sure brokers scoop them up immediately. But, if you check back, say a week or so before the date you want, tickets are often available, though they may not last long. I'm guessing this happens because brokers and tour operators turn back unsold tickets at the last minute. So if you're initially shut out, it might be worth looking again, maybe several times a day, starting a week or so before the day you want, and tickets might "magically" be available.

First, I would like to say, Thank You,Thank you, thank you. I have only made a couple posts but everyone has gone above and beyond helpful.

Mary I agree, from the pictures Monteparnasse Tower looks like a wonderful vantage point for photo's. I almost booked dinner at 58 Tour Eiffel but I want to discuss it with the Mrs. first, as far as being a "tourist trap" that place must be it by definition. Then again she may not care? I panicked when I seen tickets. As long as there are options, we should be okay. I was just having a Chevy Chase flashback of being locked out at the front door. Thanks Stoutfella Got em!

Apologies, 66, for hijacking your thread to assist Craig. :O)
