We are arriving in Paris in 5 days. Does anyone know if I can buy individual tickets to the various museums at TI offices (Gare d'Est in particular) or FNAC stores (or even other museums)? It is my understanding that this would allow us to skip the ticket purchase lines at the museums, but not the security lines . My SO isn't really interested in museums but agreed to go to one or two so I don't really want to invest in museum passes unless it is absolutely necessary. Many thanks....
Yes you can buy them at major train stations, airports and at the first museum you visit - except for Musee d'Orsay.
No need to go find a FNAC, where the lines could be as long as the museum admission lines.
On Sunday I walked right up to the ticket counter at FNAC and got Musée d'Orsay tickets without any wait. Then took the bus straight over to the Orsay and missed the big line.
So yes, you can buy tickets at FNAC and it can be more convenient for you. It's a good option to be aware of.
Note that the only FNAC open on Sundays is the one on the Champs-Elysées. On the other days of the week, you have many more options.
Chexbres & Kim- Just the information I needed. Many thanks-
Significant Other not interested in Museums?! I hope they like French food! :)
