We will arrive at CDG airport. We want to purchase a SIM card for our tablet. We will be using the tablet for maps, etc. Would like to purchase before we leave airport???
Where is the best place to purchase the SIM card and is it difficult to activate?
Look for one of the many Relay shops.
I'd suspect that they'd set it up for you.
I bought one at a Relay at CDG once, and the clerk was very helpful in setting it up. However, I really think it depends on the clerk, since this is just a convenience store and many customers are in a hurry to catch their flights. By the way, ask for Lebara, which has an English version of its website and you can switch messages and voicemail to English. The SIM card is free, but you'll want to buy some time when you get it.
I have been using LEBARA sims for a number of years , you pop it in the phone and follow the prompts ( English version ) . They work like a charm with dirt cheap rates . I never needed anyone to help me activate them .
Thanks, all.
@Steve, Don't you have your Lebara sims sent to you in the States before you leave? If so, the op could do that too instead of getting it at the airport. B.
Hi Bets , Frankly , I never bothered to look into that and it seems a good idea . Your thought piqued my curiosity so I checked the website and it seems the card is available by mail only to a French address , hope all is well , Steve
Lebara will ship to a US address, but you have to manipulate the online order form for it to accept a US address. However, you can't top it off online from the US. I ordered mine and received it before leaving home, then stopped at a phone store in Paris and loaded it with 10€ which was more than enough for the two weeks I was there. This was a phone only card. It may be different with a data card.
@ Carolyn , What did you do to allow US delivery ? It would be great to know , another tool to have in the travel kit . Thanks in advance .
