Busses in Versailles

Does anyone know if the bus system in Versailles has a website with route maps, etc. I'm not a French speaker and I can't see to find anything.

I didn't find the city bus system map with a quick look, but there is a bus system. In general, the busses are focused on the train stations as major destinations. Can you tell us more why you need it? For travel within the City of Versailles? To and From Paris? Or something to do with the chateau?

The city is not that big. You can generally walk from the main train stations in about 10 minutes between each (there are three). The main commercial center is just a 5 minute walk from the chateau and Gare Rive Gauche.

Trying to get from the Trianon Palace area to the Versailles-Chantiers station and as I understand it cabs are not that easy to find. I was there 20 years ago so getting to the RER station is a snap but the others I hear are much further away, ie not easily walkable.

Marcus.. my 11 yr old daughter and I easily walked from Chantiers to Versailles.. its about 15-20 minutes of a pleasant enough walk ( no giant hills or scuzzy areas as I recall). Sorry that may not help with buses.. but just saying its easily doable . Note , we did not have luggage with us.

Taxis can be found in front of Versailles usually. Can't guarantee.. but if you want a taxi I would check that out.. however you sound like you are are at other end of estate so if visiting palace it would work , but if just at Grand Trianon end it would be a waste to walk or take trolley all the way up to Palace only to not find a taxi!

According the official tourism website of the city: www.versailles-tourisme.com they refer to http://www.phebus.tm.fr as the local bus company. You have to translate into English or just look under the tab acceuil (home) at the left side under “Se deplacer” for “Plan du réseau”, there “plan du réseau de Versailles” for the network map.

^^^ Great find with the link; I couldn't find it on the city's website. Here is the link to the bus routes and schedules. Scroll down to "TRI" and click the link for the pdf of the route and schedule. This goes from the Trianons to Gare Chantiers. Note that there is only one bus per hour and it's a 20 minute ride.

It is a pretty long haul all the way from the Trianons to Gare Chantiers, especially at the end of your day so I don't blame you for wanting to get a ride there. It would certainly take way more than 20 minutes - more like 40 minutes at a very brisk pace.
