It is a fair walk up the hill (but scenic and fun) to the top of Eze le Village and then the Jardin Exotique is excellent too.

I think you would be hard pressed to get to Monaco in time regardless of transport mode.

HI,
We took the train to Monaco from Nice last spring and arrived in time to make the walk up and up to the castle for changing of the guard with plenty of time. Did not stop in Eze. If you are concerned about making it in time, see Eze on the way back. We enjoyed stopping in Ville Franche sur Mer on the way back.

Last summer my wife and I took a bus from Nice directly to Monaco. The bus was jammed coming and going and we BARELY made it onto the last bus back (around 9:00 PM). We had to stand the whole time and us old folks had quite an adventure standing up while the bus driver flew around curves at warp speed. We did this to avoid driving in the area, because the traffic was horrendous. Next time I would try the train, depending on the schedules.
