Bus or taxi in Nice for short ride to train station

We will be in Nice later this month! Staying at corner of Bd Dubouchage and Rue Alberti. For our return, we are taking train to Paris so we need to get to the train station around 9Am on Sunday. Walking the half mile might be doable, but with luggage not so fun. We are just far enough from trams to make them not optimal.

So seems either taxi or bus. Taxi would be ok but I have read that they notoriously overcharge. There happens to be a bus stop right outside hotel for bus 57 that goes to train station in 10 minutes. Wondering how the bus would be with luggage, small suitcases and a small backpack.

Thx for any advice if you have used either bus or taxi in Nice. I would love to take the tram but we are kind of between stops..-Bill

Hi Bill, I think I’d take a chance on the bus. Ten minutes sounds good and it shouldn’t be crowded early Sunday morning. Just confirm with the hotel that the bus is running at that hour. Have fun!

Uber also works. The buses are fine but not as convenient to get on with baggage but the journey is super short. As you might note, the tram is a few blocks, stopping near Galeries Lafayette.

If you haven't seen the Cathedrale Saint Nicolas de Nice, which is the Russian Orthodox Church, have your Uber driver at least swing by it before you go to the train station. It is glorious, even if you only see the exterior.

Thx for the advice. Just 2 quick followups:

  1. If I buy the 10 pack of tram tickets (in Nice), can they be split between 2 people?
  2. When catching a bus (in Nice), will the bus stop if we are just standing at a marked stop or do we need to make some gesture...

Thx again.

Yes, you can use the tram 10-pack for multiple people. Machines to validate the ticket are located within each car - simply put the ticket in twice.

If you transfer, you’ll only need to re-validate once.
