Bus from Gare du nord to Montmartre

Any information about buses from GduN to the area near the Abbesses metro? I'm thinking that we'd rather avoid the metro when we're pulling our suitcases.

Hi,

Walking from Gare du Nord to Montmartre as you exit the station on Rue de Dunkerque takes ca 25 mins, straight down until you see the merry go round, it is level ground.

You did ask for a bus. The #54 from the front door of the gare will take you to the Montmartrobus at Pigalle which will stop at the Abbesses metro

Just my own personal opinion, but unless you can't handle stairs with your suitcases, I think it's easier to ride the metro with luggage than to ride a bus with luggage.

And a taxi from the official taxi rank is even easier and won't break the bank.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking that even though we usually try to take the cheaper options, in this case we might get a cab. If the bus happens to be packed, it may be a hassle with luggage and I don't want to deal with metro stairs this time. Thanks again!

It will be probably packed full of tourists pulling their suitcases.
I'd opt for a taxi. Get in line with the rest of the folks and remember that the taxi driver always remains in his taxi.

Fend off freelance taxi drivers in Gare du Nord and stick to the queue for authorized rides. Flat rate: 50 euros right bank; 55 euros left bank destinations. There shouldn't be a fee for a normal amount of luggage.

These are fares from CDG . . . .and have nothing to do with the GduN of OP's question
