I’ve found very conflicting information on the Internet about whether one can travel by bus all the way from Avignon to Les Baux-de-Provence (and back!) during the first week in June. Does anyone have up-to-date- information? thank you.
The correct spelling is Les Baux.
Yes there is a bus 707. The current schedule is up to June 5 2025

I apologize for the misspelling. Thank you for the information.

Good point, Christine H. Thank you.
Jazz+Travels provided good info, and it’s an easy trip. In August 2024 we took the early bus to Les Baux from Avignon. We toured the castle ruins, had a wonderful lunch at Le Café de Lily in the lower town, and ended the day in the Carrières de Lumières.
Items of note:
- The Avignon bus station is not easily seen, it’s next to the train station and tucked back under a building like a parking garage.
- The restaurants and other businesses in the lower town do not open until closer to lunch time so eat before you go or bring something to sustain you until lunch.
- The return bus stop is located across the street from where you are arrived earlier. Ask the bus driver to point it out as you disembark.
Avignon has some fantastic day trips you can take by public transportation. You can visit Pont du Gard, Nimes, or check out the Saturday market in Arles. If you’re looking for a guidebook, the Rick Steves “Provence & the French Riviera” guidebook is a great resource. It’s packed with detailed information that made planning and traveling a breeze for us.
Enjoy your trip!
