Burgundy without a car?

Is it possible to visit the Burgundy region without a car? We'll arrive in Dijon after a cruise by train and will spend 3 days in the region. I'm a little hesitant about renting a car but want to see Dijon/Beaune/Macon. We're big walkers and can book tours but need suggestions. Is renting a car the best option?

If you stay in Dijon, both Macon and Beaune are easy day trips of under an hour each. These are local trains called TER with set ticket prices so no need for advance purchase.

Beaune is very bike friendly and neighbouring villages can be visited via bike trails.
