Burgundy in October - Where Would You Stay?

We've nearly finalized our plans for Alsace and are now focusing on four nights in Burgundy. We'll arrive on a Friday in mid-October and will have a car. We're looking for a place to stay near Beaune and would appreciate your suggestions. Here’s what we’re hoping for:

  • Budget: Under €150 per night (about $240 CAD)
  • Preference: Smaller towns, which may help us stay within budget
  • Parking: Required
  • Transportation: We have a designated driver, so driving after dinner is fine

Do you have any recommendations for places to stay in the Beaune area? (For context, our next stop after Burgundy is Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.)

It’s been a while but we loved our stay at the Carpe Diem Guesthouse in Massangis, France about one hour drive from Beaune. Beautiful room, spacious bath, garden, continental breakfast and ample parking. It is well within your price range if booking com is accurate…it was when we stayed there. Not sure the same owners as when we visited but reviews are still quite favorable.

Thank you Matt and Denny. La Combotte is unfortunately unavailable, and we're currently awaiting a response from Carpe Diem. In the meantime, we're open to other suggestions in this area or south of Beaune. Tournus was mentioned in a previous post as a possibility.

I suggest using your favorite site for accommodations (booking.com, AirBnB, etc) or gites.com (or I think there is also gites-in-france.com or the like), fill in your dates and all your needs/preferences. Set the map to your preferred distance to Beaune and see what you find. Booking, in particular, allows you to filter for high ratings.

gites-de-france is the website Gerry is referring to, I believe. We use it often, for 2-3 day stays or longer.

Fe-wo shows a number of places still available between Beaune and Dijon. I'd find a place with parking as that's going to be an issue either way.

I would stay in Beaune for at least two nights. The two adjacent IBIS hotels fit your requirements for Budget and Parking.
if mobility isn't an issue, no need for a DD, as the car could stay in the lot your entire visit. the hotels are just outside the old city walls and a short walk to the restaurants and sights.

The Gites-de-France website is a great resource! Thank you for sharing. We'll also review the Ibis options and see what makes the most sense for us.

We have stayed at this little hotel on the edge of the Morvan Forrest on a stream and really liked it. It is very close to Vezelay and we visited both Auxerre and Vezelay from this location as well as took a nice stroll in the forrest. The hotel has an excellent restaurant that attracts people from miles around with fresh trout in the millrace.
