Brittany & Nice in One Trip

I'm looking for some advice! I am booking a trip to France in August. Initially, I was just going to Nice a trip I have booked and cancelled several times due to the pandemic. Now I have the idea of 5 nights in Brittany then 5 nights in Nice. But when I look at the travel logistics is seems quite messy. I am flying nonstop into LHR and flying to Paris for a few nights. Then was going to train to Brittany. That is easy enough. But getting to Nice from Brittany is messy.

Should I just shelve the Brittany idea and maybe Paris and the south of France or is there a reasonable way to get from Brittany to Nice that I'm missing.

Thank a bunch!

long haul trains go through the hub of Paris. If possible fly into Nice and out of Paris. spend your 5 nights in Nice touring the coast there then take the train to your destination in Brittany which will go through Paris and probably involve changing stations in Paris. Check to see if there are domestic flights that would take you to a city in Brittany, but if it is by train you will go through Paris. then train back to Paris for the fight home (and why are you flying through London to get to France?_)

Depends a lot on where in Brittany you'll be (it's a big, big, area). For instance, you could fly from Rennes to Nice and it's probably cheaper than a train and a whole lot faster. Check Skyscanner.com for flights.

You have quite a few direct flight options to Nice

There are daily flights Nantes → Nice with EasyJet (From €35 + luggage), also with Volotea and some with Air France.

There are also Rennes → Nice flights every day except Saturdays with Easyjet from €55 + luggage

Flight duration: 1h30

And Nantes and Rennes are worth visiting, for sure. Rennes is probably going to be closer to your stops in Brittany.

August is a great time of year to visit Brittany. Normally it is cooler (and damper) than the rest of France. Freaky things can happen (I had a couple of very hot days there in 2019), but the risk of unpleasantly hot weather is quite low.

Thank you! The advice is excellent, no surprise :) I am going to use a combo of planes and trains to visit both!

Why are you going to LHR? Have you priced and timed out the Paris trip (including 90-miinute pre departure check in?)

Flying to London was cheaper than any other European city. But I really want to go to France 🙂
