We'll have a car for about a week as we roam the Brittany peninsula, probably 3 nights in/near Dinan, 3 nights in/near Quimper (live music, we're told), and 3 nights in/near Nantes. We'll gladly research suggestions on safe, clean places to stay.
I did not stay in Dinan but did a day trip in September and liked it, we stayed in the walled part of St Malo which is about 40 minutes from Dinan,if interested contact me,we loved our B&B in St Malo.

Not sure I've cut and pasted the link correctly, but the name is right. We stayed here a few nights this past September. The room was modern and spacious with a large and modern bathroom. I think breakfast was an add on. It is in a lovely bucolic setting with river views and fields all around. An easy drive (15,20 minutes?) into Dinan or St Malo. The owner is friendly and gracious. He emailed us prior to our visit to advise us of roadwork and provided the new route to follow ( I actually think I made this reservation through booking.com and was pleased he took it upon himself to contact us). Anyway, a very nice stay, convenient to several destinations, but a car is a must.
