Bringing my smart phone (Samsung Galaxy Mega) to France, London and Belgium for first time.

I am leaving Thursday. I have unlocked my phone here through my vendor I have service through. I am flying into CDG. I understand there is a Tabac type thing called Relay. It is very important to me that I have service for the full 34 days I am in Europe and have unlimited data as well....(very interested in trying new travel apps and the GPS for my rental car later in the trip is crucial). Is this Relay my only option? I can insert a Sim Card solo but I have heard that it is necessary to make a phone call in french or activate it online? I would appreciate any advice on where to go in CDG if possible...or even Paris in general to get my phone up and running. I have rented a flat in the Marais near the Bastille station but can get anywhere if I had an address to get to. Appreciate any advice I can get.

for what its worth, we only load 'off-line' travel apps that don't require data, for comms etc generally we rely on free wifi, which is available in a lot of places in Europe. as for GPS, it was cheaper to for us to buy a GPS at home and load up Europe maps. after using it for nearly a month, it is working good.
the absolute best app we use is Pocket Earth, and down load the maps we need for each area/country. it has got us out of trouble when our GPS , over the years, could not help.a real life saver, and useful in cities, walking around, why use data when you don't have to.
