Bring a swimming suit to Annecy?

We will be in Annecy for 3 days and planning to explore the town, rent some type of boat, and leisurely bike. We haven't been to this location, so I'm not sure whether we'd want to be in the water with some type of paddle boat w/ slide or better to have a small motor boat. We will be staying in the Imperial Palace hotel as a splurge. The rest of our locations in Italy & France won't have opportunity to need a swimming suit.

I'm a minimalist packer and would love to hear from others who have been at Annecy; hate to pack something I won't use. Did you swim in the lake? If you stayed at this hotel, did you swim in their pool?

Jean,
When will you be there? We were there in July and the air was plenty hot enough, but the water was quite cold. I stuck my feet in. Refreshing! But I'm in Georgia so our summer swimming is the temp of bathwater.
The water in the lake is beautiful, crystal clear. If swimming is something that you'd usually want to do, then bring that suit! I am not much of a swimmer here at home and, even though I brought a suit, we didn't go in the water. The suit took up so little room, I wasn't mad about it. :D
There are plenty of other activities in Annecy if you choose not to swim.

We were in Annecy at the very end of May, and the water was still too cold, so we didn't go in the lake, but there were
many people on paddle boats enjoying the sunny day.
We even saw a young couple with their German Shepherd who waded in the water by the steps! I guess the water was not cold for this dog!
I'd pack a swim suit as it doesn't take much room ;-)

The lake is absolutely beautiful, its water is crystal clear & the surrounding mountains make it picture perfect.

Make sure you try the delicious ice cream at Glacier des Alpes! It's definitely worth the wait if there's a long line.

We ate at some delicious places. Send me a PM if you're interested.

When will your trip take place?

Have a wonderful trip!

We were there in September a few years ago and used the paddle boats. We were wearing our clothes but it started raining so we got wet anyway! (the rain wasn't cold) I have a nice memory of paddling out to the Ile aux Cygnes (Swan Island). The place is gorgeous - have a great time!!

We were just there in mid-August and lots of people were in the water.
