Bouillabaisse in Cannes?

I will be there for one day/night in August. Is there anywhere that prepares the real thing?

Do you really think so, Andrew. Isn’t it more of a Marseille dish and very few restaurants in Marseille make it because the Rock Fish necessary for a true bouillabaisse are so hard to find. Fish soup, which is delicious, is everywhere, but bouillabaisse is rare. I’d check the red Michelin guidebook, La Fourchette and other places.

I can tell you where we always go for seafood in Cannes with family and friends who live in Cannes and elsewhere on the Riviera, Chez Brun, aka Astoux &Brun. This is our go-to for get-togethers. Looks a bit run down and resembles all the other restaurants on the street, but the quality is top-notch. We reserve in advance.

We ordered “fish soup” at le mistral restaurant (facing the beach in town the place on the left closest to beach) IT WAS HORRIBLE!! Like a warm cat food smoothie. I cannot relate how bad it was. Beware.
