Bordeaux Wine Region Advice Needed

Researching a trip to the Bordeaux wine region for October through early December 2021 (probably spend a week) and the RS France guidebook doesn't cover the area. Any suggestions on where to base? What chateaux to visit? Other recommendations?

Thanks MaryPat! I have the RS France book and have read the St. Emilion section. I'll check out the LP Bordeaux book. What I'm after is more information regarding the left bank - especially the Haut Medoc and Medoc.

Thanks for the link MP! Found the book The Wine Bible and it's a great source for the Bordeaux region (as well as the major wine regions of the world). It's not a travel guide but does a great job describing the leading wineries, wines, and the geography of the areas. I'm kind of baffled why RS doesn't give the Bordeaux region similar coverage as he does the Burgundy area since the former is arguably the world's most important wine region. Thanks again!

You might want to consult the Michelin Guide Green book 'Bordeaux, Aquitaine & The Basque Country' as well as the Michelin Guide 'Wine Regions of France'. I also have used the book 'Exploring Wine Regions: Bordeaux' by Michael Higgins. Because we are travelling via bicycle we are more interested in the most interesting routes/chateaus rather than wine tasting or purchasing. The Higgins book isn't as useful as the Michelin guides but it has beautiful pictures of the wine estates and chateaus. If you want more detailed information on specific wineries, the Lewin Guides are extremely comprehensive. We will be cycling through the Medoc, Graves, Bordeaux and Languedoc-Roussillon in September and I have used all of these resources to get ideas and supplemented with Google searches to find local tourism sources.
