Bordeaux to Tours

We want to spend one night on the road between Bordeaux and Tours and have a lovely birthday dinner. Any recommendations?

Saintes is along the way----it is worth stopping at. Rochefort is a little off the path, but also magnificent. Restaurant wise, I couldn't say.
