We will be travelling from Paris to Sarlat in May by train (via Bordeaux). While I have made an advance TGV reservation from Paris to Bordeaux, am unable to book onwards from Bordeaux to Sarlat. Is this because there are no reservations on the train? Or is it too early? Request guidance on the way for the onward travel .
P.S We will reach Bordeaux St Jean around 1040 in the morning and want the first available train for Sarlat.
thanks.
Bordeaux to Sarlat is a TER train no reservations needed.
You might be too early for May 2020.
Just wanted to add that its a Saturday , are the train timings different?
What is the exact day and what site are you using to look at tickets?
Looking at Saturday May 2 2020 I see tickets available from 7am and every 2 hours after that.
23rd May (Saturday). Have tried en.oui.sncf and raileurope.
So I guess best option is to take a TER ticket once we reach Bordeaux and hop on the first departing train.
I would check the schedule again a little closer to the date if you want to have those in advance. The full fixed priced TER train tickets are usually good for any train that day as the seats are not reserved like a TGV. Sometimes there are discounted ones offered online only good for a specific train time.
Will do that. Thanks
I noticed in my own searches for train tickets that several routes mentioned that they wouldn’t run on May 23. It’s a Saturday, and the Thursday before is a holiday, so perhaps they expect people to make a long weekend of it?
