Bordeaux to Paris

We are flying into Bordeaux, France, renting a car and spending a week (Sat-Sat) driving through the Loire Valley to Paris.. Would you recommend stopping anywhere between Bordeaux and central Loire area?
(We are excited about seeing the following: Azay-le-Rideau, Chambord, Amboise, Fontevraud Abbey)

We are dropping the car off outside Paris.

Well, there's Cognac and Poitiers, but no, given your timing, really, you could just go north up the A10 until you get to the Amboise area and spend your time at the places you mentioned. Chenonceau is also popular with a lot of travelers.

I'll second Kent's recommendation of Chenonceau, and add Leonardo's house Clos Luce in Amboise, plus Cheverny. All three have at least some furniture, which makes the space more interesting to me.

I spent about 9 days in the Loire area last fall and had a wonderful time - hope you will too! What time of year is your trip?

Thank you! I appreciate the recommendations and experience you offer.

We will be going in the winter. My daughter lives and works in Paris and has assigned days off during winter. She will not be off work in the spring or summer. I heard the best part of visiting in the winter is it is much less crowded. We'll enjoy that!

Thanks again.
