I understand that Rick has said that Bordeaux is 'boring". However we are hoping to spend about ten days in SW France, and the Basque region across the Pyrenees, and are seeking travel tips - where to stay, where to visit, etc. Thanks.

I wouldn't say Bordeaux is boring. We've stayed there several times for short visits, and enjoyed it. As to the French Basque region, here's the first entry from my travel blog covering our one week stay there (plus Bordeaux). I don't know that I'd call Bordeaux boring, but it depends on your taste. However, I think there is plenty to do/see in SW France Basque/Pyrenees without adding Bordeaux in, too.

sent you a PM about area; my best friends family has a farm and grew up there. says its gorgeous countryside and small villages. you can also check euskoguide.com. Depending what "boring" means, I think you'll enjoy your time away from the maddening crowds and traffic, eat basque food and local wine. CHEERS
