Bonjour! Later this month, we will be traveling by car around the Bordeaux region and are looking for an idyllic spot to stay for one night in a small town or countryside/vineyards with easy access (ideally walkable) to a wine tasting. (Countryside preferred because we're already doing lots of cities.) Any recommendations?
We had friends visit us last year who wanted to spend one night in the vineyards of Saint-Émilion. They stayed here: https://www.grand-barrail.com/en/
They loved it as a one night visit. Many of the really beautiful accomodations are not really in walking distance. However, there are a few places to stay in the village of Saint-Émilion where you can walk to some wineries.
You are a gem, KimberlySEA! Thank you again for the great information.
I would recommend researching the wineries you want to visit and than choose a place close by to those wineries. First choose whether you want to stay on the left or right bank. Some possible villages/communes include: Pauillac, Margaux, Pessac Leognan, and Saint-Emilion.
If you need winery recommendations this is a good website to use: www.sauvistication.com
Winery visits in Bordeaux need to be booked well ahead.
In case anyone finds this thread, I found this chateau/winery — https://chateau-soutard.com/la-maison-dhotes-de-grand-faurie/ — which offers accommodations. The dates didn't work out for us, but it looks lovely!
Thank you, Stefan. Lots to consider!
