I was in Bordeaux a few years back but cannot remember. I know you tap their card when entering the tram but I cannot remember whether or not to tap it upon exit. Does anyone know if this is correct?
PS, sorry if this is a repost. I could not find where I had posted this question before.

In Bordeaux one taps only upon entering the vehicle.
When I visited Bordeaux, I only tapped my card on entry for the trams, never on exit, and that matched what locals around me were doing. Paris works differently since metro and RER systems often require tapping or scanning both in and out. It’s always worth double-checking signage at the gates, because the rules vary depending on the city.
You have to have tickets or passes in Paris no phone credit card tap in and out. You no longer need to tap out of the RER since there are no longer different priced tickets; it is 2.50 everywhere and the gates usually no longer are working for tap out. There are exceptions such as internal gates at Chatelet which can function as entry or exit gates. The machine will know you are on a continuous trp and only take a new ticket if you are entering for the first time in that trip. Otherwise it just opens the gate for you when you tap your pass or Easy card. If the RER exit is not open, again you can tap out without having a ticket pulled.
The one exception in Paris is the airports which have a 13 Euro charge and you have to tap out. The airport ticket has to be on the phone, or a clean Easy card with no other tickets or a Navigo Decouverte pass.
