Bordeaux & Paris

I’m going to France for 10 nights in mid September, flying into Bordeaux and out of Paris.

How many nights would you spend in each city? I’ve been to Paris before and seen many highlights but that was 20 years ago.

I want to do some wine tours in Bordeaux and see the city but can’t decide whether to spend 5 nights in Bordeaux and 5 in Paris or some other option.

Thanks in advance.

5 nights in Bordeaux feels like a long time to me, I would probably split 4/6, leaving you with three full days in Bordeaux: a 'wine tour' day, a day for the city, and a day for the activities of your choice.
You could event get away with 3/7: there are many more day trips and things to do from Paris than from Bordeaux.

scottissen,
I concur with Balso. Paris has weeks of things to do without even leaving the city. Bordeaux is very nice, but a split of 3/7 is better than 4/6 or 5/5. Have a wonderful time!

We did 5 days in Bordeaux with 3 of those days on full day wine tours. We wanted to tour each major wine region. One day in Bordeaux would be sufficient and then how many days you want to do wine tours? Bordeaux is very nice - old town is pretty, good museum, waterfront area is gorgeous. I’d do 2 days of wine tours and one day enjoying the city and spend the rest in Paris as others have mentioned there is a lot to see and do there.

I'm a bit biased but you could easily (and happily) spend 5 nights in Bordeaux and it's environs so I'd suggest 5/5 or at least 4/6. You could spend 3 days exploring the city (it's more than just wine!) then a wine tour one day then a day trip out to Arcachon (super charming beachside town) and Dune de Pilat (largest sand dune in Europe). September is a great time to visit!
