We will be arriving in Bordeaux for one night to drop off our car that day and catch a flight to Paris the next morning. I am looking for a place to stay for that night. Any recommendations? I'm running into a bit of a brick wall. Most of the hotels are showing no availability. I'm wanting to book one night the first week in October. Do hotels not book that far out or have I hit some holiday or festival rush? Is taking the train from the city center to the airport the best option? I really need help with this one. Thanks!
It takes about 2 hours on the TGV to get from Bordeaux Saint Jean to the Gare Montparnasse in Paris, right in the heart of the city. Is there a reason you need or want to fly? Flying will end up taking more time, due to security and transportation from airport to city.
I would recommend that you drop the car, take a bus to the train station, then a TGV to Paris. The airport website states, "The 30’Direct offers a direct 30-minute service between Bordeaux Airport and Saint-Jean train station."
Hotels are difficult because the World Rugby Cup is taking place in France September-October. Many of the games are not in Paris. I suspect there's a big game on in Bordeaux the night in question.
We are flying from Bordeaux to Amsterdam,, not Paris otherwise that would have been a great suggestion. I was running into this problem at both the front end of this trip and this return. Fortunately I wrote directly to a hotel my daughter had stayed at last year and they will be able to accomodate us for a few days earlier in September. But - still look for a room for one night the first day in October.
Ah, your original post says you're flying to Paris. Hence my suggestion. I hope you find a suitable hotel in Bordeaux. Travel arrangements running up against major events can be frustrating. Good luck!
Yes, that was my mistake, sorry for that. Did find something going through Chase Rewards (not a plug) using points. It is the Best Western Plus Gare Saint Jean. It seems really convenient to the train to the airport. Anyone familiar with it?
