I would like to use the website to book train travel in France. But the website has an automatic selection for “Rail Card”. What is this, do we need one and is it the same as a rail pass.?
Confused here!
If you want to book trains in France, use www.sncf-connect.com
Thanks for your help.
Some fares require your purchasing a card. Typically, there are the Carte Avantage Senior for those 60+ and the Carte Avantage Adulte for those 27 to 59. The cost is 49€ for one year.
More information is available here:
Read up on trains on the Man in Seat 61, then you will know how to proceed
Thanks for the information.
And if you have any problems with the SCNF site which has become more difficult to use in recent years, try trainline.com which is very easy to use and download tickets to your phone.
This information on Rick Steve's website for trains in France: https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/france-rail-passes It is heavy on Rail Passes, but has good links to websites.
