Can't wait. Leaving with my Mom and hubby for 26 days. Going to Colmar, a day trip to Basel, a day in Germany, a night in Luxembourg and then drive through the Belgium countryside to Vimy. .....onto Normandy and The Loire followed by 10 nights in Paris.
I am nervous but so excited. Can't believe we are actually going. I hope that we are prepared enough. Thank you all for the great posts on this site.

If you are in Basel in the 10 days starting Saturday 24th October, the 545th annual "Herbstmesse" (Autumn fair) will be taking place.
Yes, you read right, it was first authorised by emperor Friedrich III in 1471 and has been running every year since. It was originally a trade fair, but has morphed over the centuries into a fun fair, with most of the old town's squares filled with stalls and fairground attractions.
Petersplatz is full of craft and similar stalls. The put up a big wheel in Münsterplatz (Cathedral Square), this normally placid square becomes very noisy. Photo of the cathedral and big wheel here, you get great views from the top!
That is awesome. We will be there either the 26 or 27th. That looks so fun.
