Bonjour ! Kings Apartment Tour advice needed

My husband and I are going to Paris in late August! I am looking for advice about Versailles. We want to book the Kings apartment tour. We will have the Paris Museum Pass. Can we book this Kings Apartment Tour online before we go to the Palace? Or just book it when we arrive at Versailles? Thanks you in advance Merci

We took the Kings Apartment Tour last spring. We booked our tickets ahead of time on this website, here . I'm not sure if you can book the day of arrival. We arrived early and our tour was amazing! Then we had to deal with the crowds after the tour. Ugh! My favorite part of the tour was going into the Royal Opera House! It was amazing and our group was the only group there! I would book ahead just to make sure you can take the tour, it is well worth it!

Yes, book the tour ahead of time. I agree, getting to see the opera house was spectacular.

You are unlikely to be able to book this on site as it sells out and the whole point of it is to skip the helacious security line. With the apartment tour you use a different entrance and don't have to stand in the long long long security line for the chateau. The reserved ticket plus the Museum Pass do the trick.

Yes, buy the tour in advance! As we said, "best 7 euro we spent on this trip!"

When we visited in Fall 2015 we underestimated how long it would take to get to Versailles and missed our time slot for the Apartments Tour. We were luckily able to get tickets for a different time that same day. I wouldn't want to chance them having availability the day of and would recommend you prebook as it was a definite highlight and a wonderful experience.

Book the tour in advance so you get the time slot you want. I booked the tour for my son and his friends a few days ago for Aug 10 and they got a bit confused, not sure how, and they showed up a day early for their tour. But guess what? They let them in! That was really lucky for them.

Can anyone recommend a third party tour guide/company that would include the Kings Apartment tour? Thanks.

Kate why wouldn't you just book it on the Versailles website , why would you want a third party reseller ?

You should book online as noted above, but be aware, the window for online booking opens only 3 months in advance, on the 1st of the month.
I emailed the palace about my planned trip in mid April and got a reply that the window for that time frame would open Feb 1. (which I hope nothing was lost in translation, as that appears to be only 60 days in advance) So, it seems like you could only book online starting June 1. But you could email the palace directly to be sure. They replied to me very quickly.
