I agree with Mary. Vedettes du Pont Neuf uses smaller boats and has live commentary.

Took the Vendettes Seine cruise recently. No slippery steps trying to get onto the boat, smaller numbers and the guide gave an excellent commentary. Highly recommend

Vedettes de Paris, at the Eiffel Tower. Small boats, electric powered engines, live speaker in English and French, not a recording in five languages.

I only heard about 10% of what the Vedettes guide had to say. My hearing is less than great, but not that bad. Combination of general background noise (the smallest part), nearby passengers speaking loudly and poor sound system - at least on the upper, outdoor deck.

Did not have these problems on the Saone cruise in Lyon a few days earlier.

Nice enough cruise with Vedettes on the Seine, though after the experience I’d say my preference is to walk along the sidewalks or quais along the riverfront. Take in the street vendors and street life. Pretty much the same views.

Late Note — the above does refer to a Vedettes du Pont Neuf experience.

Note that there are several companies with "Vedettes" in their name.

Mary and I were recommending Vedettes du Pont Neuf. They are located near the Pont Neuf at Square du Vert Galant on the Ile de la Cite.

fred, it does seem to really depend on who is on your cruise.

I've done three Vedettes du Pont Neuf cruises and loved two of them.

One was at night, sadly in the rain, which completely spoiled the views, and the person supposedly speaking English was impossible to understand and we were awfully disappointed. To be fair, at the start they stated that the regular person was ill, so they had a last minute replacement.

The other two though were absolutely brilliant. If I did another it would definitely be Vedettes du Pont Neuf.

My husband and I took the Vedettes du Pont Neuf in September of last year. We were able to get seats on the top with a perfect view. The narrator spoke English and was easily understood. I appreciated the ability to buy tickets online that were open tickets valid for one year which cost just one Euro more (16 Euros). We just showed up when we wanted and hopped on.

We took the evening dinner cruise last February and it was wonderful. Food and ambiance was perfect, would total recommend that experience.

I agree with Lindy. We boarded across from La Samaritaine and explored that department store ( open til 8) after. We bought last minute tickets in person. We timed it to seethe Sun go down and the lights go on. Our live lecturer spoke UK English and was amplified and easy to understand.
