BinaxNOW Test kit

Planning to test day before leaving France. Followed RS recommendation to use BinaxNOW. I followed directions to download Navica App to create an account. I followed prompts but kept getting an error when trying to scan Navica bar code. Is the Navica account necessary? Would scanning the larger eMed code to start testing be all that I need? Having two bar codes on the Binax test box is confusing. ??

I just did this last Friday. Emed is where you log into and take the test from there, NAVICA is where the results are sent, so you have to have that downloaded.

To start testing, all you need to do is go to www.emed.com. The first page will say something like “I want to start testing”. You choose that and then will be prompted to answer questions. After you do that, then the person will come online. You will see a little box at the top right where you can see yourself, but you can’t see them. They will then start talking and telling you what to do step by step.

Do you have someone else traveling with you? It’s easier if you do. I have a hard time with foreign accents and am also hard of hearing, My husband was right there having to tell me what they were saying sometime and it was easier having both of us figure out exactly what they wanted. After me, the rest of the family did it with ease. When they want to see your ID or anything else, you have to hold it behind the phone where the camera is. They’ll tell you to hold it further back or closer while they scan it.

After you take the test, it has to sit for 15 minutes and another person comes online watching the test but you don’t hear them. You’ll have to position and hold the phone so they can see that the test is yours and it can’t be moved. After the 15 minutes are up, there will be a ding and a box to check that says “I am Ready” or something like that. Click that and another person comes on and asks to see your test results, asks a few other questions and confirms if you are positive or negative, but you’ll already know as it’s like a pregnancy test.

Your results will be sent to your email within 10 minutes. It is not hard, but it’s not like super duper easy either. However, it’s much easier to have someone with you that can help out.

My experience was the same as lulu’s. To take the test you need to go to emed. The navica app is just where you can display the test results. But you don’t even need to go to navica as emed will email you the results and you can just print them out.

Good luck!!

Thank you so very much for your directions. I will be testing alone but I trust all will be fine. You made my day 🤗🌸

Also, i'm looking at a BinaxNOW box now and you want to scan the larger of the QR codes. Mine says "scan to start testing" under the QR code.

I used this test in April and found it helpful to have something to prop your phone or other device on (I used an iPad Mini) while waiting the 15 minutes. Also helpful to have a good light source (I always travel with a small flashlight) in case the person is having trouble seeing your ID. I was nervous but actually found it to be easy and the eMed people were very nice.

Scanning the larger QR code doesn't always bring up emed. So if not, you can just go directly to the emed site without scanning.

There are several videos on You Tube that will walk you through the test.

Recently, we watched the one from 2 months ago titled “BinaxNow proctored test for travel?” that shows a young couple with the byline “Here today, where tomorrow?” He does a good job of walking you through the process and explaining it.

It made it easier to use the kit, knowing what to expect.

Good luck!
