We're wanting to bike from Vernon to Giverny in August. Is it necessary to reserve the bikes in advance? If so, are there better companies than others?
Gwen, we arrived in Vernon on a relatively early train from Paris, and there were plenty of bikes to rent at a shop right near the train station. Can't recall which one, but I'm sure it was the first one we stumbled across. No reservations required. It's an easy ride from there a few blocks across town to the bike route, then the path along the river takes you to Giverny. Pick up some picnic supplies in town, or grab a bite at one of the cafes near Monet's house. It's a really fun day!
And if you are looking for a good bakery for that picnic lunch, stop by Boulangerie Thierry Rose on rue d'Albuféra! So many good memories from my year working in Vernon.
