Hi,
I am traveling next week to Amboise and am interested in biking one day while I am there. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best biking route for just one day. I am a fairly active person and would be looking for a journey of at least more than 30 miles if that helps. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!
I hear the bike ride from Amboise to Chenonceau is beautiful, so you may want to check that out. It's about 20 miles roundtrip, so you would need to add in a little extra to get to your minimum of 30 miles.
We didn't go quite as far as 30 miles that day, but way back in 2003 we rented bikes from a place recommended by Rick Steves (I see he now lists 3 outfits located in essentially the same place in town), and pedaled out southeast, past Leonardo Da Vinci's house on Rue du Clos Lucé, then on a road through the Forêt d'Amboise, and on to the chateau at Chenonceau. We toured the chateau and gardens, then rode back, a total of a little less than 20 miles as mentioned above, with no monster hills to climb. You could extend the ride by continuing either direction along the Cher river.
