We will be spending an independent day visiting the Palace of Versailles. I was told that the town is small, but the palace is sprawling and getting from point A to B can be a hike. I don't mind that, but we thought it would be fun to take a bike to tour around. Because of our itinerary, it will be a Sunday in May. I know. It will be chaos. So be it. We are tourists too, right? May.
First, does anyone know if there is a bike rental at the train station, and 2) how safe is it to lockup bikes while we are sightseeing or in the Palace?

We always rent bikes at the palace (next to the Grand Canal) but on a busy Sunday in May there is a chance the bikes might all be gone depending on when you get there. I think renting a bike near the station is a good idea, it’s a very long walk from the station to the Grand Canal. I’m sorry i don’t know where though. I would Google bike rentals in Versailles, then check the address on Google Maps to find the closest one to the station.
