Bikes or cars or both (Alsace)

Another poster had a similar question but I didn't want to hijack their thread...

We're doing 3 nights, 2 full days in Alsace, staying in Kientzheim. Wondering if we could save some cash and just rent some bikes to visit the surrounding villages once settled in our AirBNB. We weren't planning on driving far anyway. Main concern is just convenience factor (having to ride bikes to get groceries, etc.)

Also, best place to rent bikes? Do I need to rent ahead of time (we'll be there June 29-July 2)

You only have two days, you can hike and catch buses. Colmar is a short bus ride away, worth most of a day. Kaysersberg is next door, a lovely little place with a supermarket. Ribeauvillé is a short bus ride away, from there you can walk to Riquewihr. There are also two walking routes from Kaysersberg to Riquewihr, one takes secondary roads through the vineyards, the other slightly more difficult route along a path through a wooded area.
