Considering booking a full day bike tour in Versailles for my family in late June. Would love to hear others experience. Thank you!
We did a bike tour and absolutely loved it, even in the rain! The tour started in the square outside Notre Dame, providing us with round trip fare on the RER to Versailles. After collecting our bikes, our charming guide led us to the market in town where we all had time to explore and purchase our picnic lunch. We then went into the back property of Versailles, visiting the gardens, riding around the pool, taking in the Trianon and Marie Antoinette's village. Finally, after turning in our bikes, we went to the palace in the afternoon where we were on our own and could spend as much time as we wanted before taking the RER back to Paris (again, on our own). One of the nicest parts was that when we entered the main palace area it was MUCH less crowded than in the morning when we rode our bikes by. Truly a fun time.
Thank you for sharing! What time of year did you go? I heard June can be a nightmare. Concerned with crowds. Who did you do the tour with? Thanks!
I imagine there are several bike tours offered from Paris to Versailles. We went with Fat Tire in September & October, different years. Both tours were lots of fun and we enjoyed both tours very much. Possibly padams also used Fat Tire as the procedure sounds the same, although we met neared the Eiffel Tower to begin the tour. We also did a lovely Fat Tire tour to Giverny and Monet's Gardens. Took the train to Vernon, collected our bikes, shopped for picnic lunch stuff at the Farmer's Market, picnicked next to the river and then on to tour the Gardens. Both were lovely days out.
