As pleasant as the ride is, once you get to the bike path, be prepared to pay an exorbitant sum to rent a rattletrap, half-broken, ill fitting, teeth rattling hunk of junk from the bar across the street from the train station.. It was hard work to enjoy the ride. The gardens were fabulous.

Wow, I was in Giverny last Monday, and had considered renting a bike rather than taking the shuttle. Because the weather was chilly and overcast, I decided just to take the shuttle. From what you say, it sounds like I made the right decision!! Thanks for sharing.
