Bicycling In & Around Deauville

We may be in Deauville mid September as part of a tour/group travel. The itinerary that day is a D-day beaches tour which we've already taken on a different tour so our plan is to find something to do on our own in Deauville. The hotel will let us borrow bicycles but I'm not sure what the options are for where to go. A ride along the ocean sounds great. I'm recovering from knee surgery so not sure how strenuous/hilly a ride I'll be up to by Sep.

If anyone has info on bike riding around Deauville or other sight seeing without a car, I'd love to hear it. Our hotel is in the center of town near the waterfront.

Please don't tell me to do the D-day beaches again. Yes, it was very interesting once, just not interested again.

I've never biked in Europe, but I spent a good bit of time walking around Deauville, and I remember it as being very flat. There wasn't much vehicular traffic. I think Cabourg (connected to Deauville by bus) would also work.

You can ride a bike from Deauville to Honfleur (1h 15m) but I don’t know what the terrain is like.

Thanx for the responses guys. I appreciate it. In the end we may just have to throw ourselves on the mercy on the concierge for some ideas, not to mention the hope that my knee is up to some hilly peddling by then.

Ask the hotel about renting an e-bike. You will be surprised how prevalent they are there. I am a serious cyclist and shocked to find when in the Dolomites, it was actually much harder to rent a non powered bike. That takes the knee issue out of the question.

Yes, Jason I wondered that too. Their website doesn't specify but it's quite possible.

E-bikes definitely recommended, in addition to what others have said, there are some steep hills on either side of Deauville-Trouville unless you take long detours inland.
