We are looking forward to several days in and around Amboise on a bike tour next year. Not a fan of heat or crowds but I do love gardens…thoughts on Amboise and surrounding chateaux in early to mid May? Is there a big difference by waiting until early June?

As one might expect, early May will be a little cooler, with a slightly greater chance of rain than early June. There are numerous websites that can give past weather data to use as a guide. Just search for Average May (June) weather in Amboise France
The French have many holidays in May (in 2022, the peak will be around Ascension Day, on 26th May); early June will be slightly quieter.
But overall it won't make much of a difference in terms of typical weather, besides what was stated above.
