Biarritz to Nantes or Rennes, Transportation options?

Driving takes the least amount of time, flights are expensive. Are there decent train connections? We usually don’t use trains but are trying to simplify our travels.

6 connections a day to Nantes in 7 to 8 hours. At least one connection required at Bordeaux St Jean.

You are likely to need a car once in Brittany. If you do, my suggestion would be to take the train to Poitiers in about 4.5 hours (change in Bordeaux, most connections leave you time for a quick lunch or coffee), where you rent a car and drive less than 2.5 hours to Nantes. It is slightly quicker than train all the way and there are more train connections to Poitiers than to Nantes.
If it's a Sunday you might struggle with car rental availability in Poitiers, so I would take the train all the way.
