Four of us on a cruise with two days in Bordeaux are wanting to get out of town and explore the area. Don't know where to go. We already have a day in St. Emilion so would like to see some of the area villages. We will hope to get a driver. Any suggestions?
Google Arcachon and the Dune de Pylat. They may appeal to you and are easily reached by car.
I'd recommend Arcachon and the dune as well. If you go stop at an oyster farm (the area is famous for its oysters) for a dozen or so and a bottle of white wine right on the bay. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Thanks for both replies, will check it out.
When you go to St. Emilion I strongly suggest you eat at "L'Envers du Decor". We went back twice it was so good. And in particular - the Foi Gras. What is funny is the reviews on Google are pretty hit and miss and I nearly forgot - yeah....the service isn't so warm. All the wait staff seem pretty annoyed. But it was worth it! :)
Make sure to eat "Cannelle's" - a Bordeaux dessert that is their trademark and crazy good.
We took a wine tour through the Medoc area and that was nice. One Chateau in particular was very exclusive and if you want to see it - you have to plan ahead. We didn't so we didn't get to go inside. But if that's your thing....Chateau Margaux.
