Between Dijon and Colmar, any good brief stops along the way for a sight or lunch?

Right now I'm leaning toward driving straight to the the area and stopping at some towns near Colmar before going into Colmar.

Should I take the longer route (4 1/2 hours vs under 3), stop somewhere nice along the route...? Open to ideas.

Thanks,

Brad

The splendid citadel of Besancon, and the attractive town, have been in Rick Steves books. We did not have time for Le Corbusier's famous chapel in Ronchamp, but I would have liked to see it. If you are a modern art fan, I would mention the Fondation Beyeler, north side of Basel. Nearby Weil am Rhein, Germany, has the unusual Vitra Design campus and museum. Naturally you would have to tell your rental company about the countries you're going to drive into.

They are the "wrong way", but since you didn't provide your entire itinerary, I'd mention Perouges, and 3-star female-owned Restaurant Pic, in Valence.

Thanks for those.

The rental company had an interesting question, "will you take the car out of the country you are renting in - except [a handful of countries including] Germany". I got from that it would be no problem crossing into Germany briefly.

The itinerary, as currently planned, is Paris, train to Auxerre, rent car, stay three nights in Semur-en-Auxios, two nights in Beaune, two nights in Colmar, then three nights currently unplanned in or around Strasbourg, turn in the car, train to Reims, one night in Reims, train to Le Havre, two nights in Normandie (I know it's way out of the way but there's a reason) that hopefully includes some sailing, then train back to Paris and fly home.
