Prior to returning to Paris from a stay in Beaune we have an extra day/night land look for suggestions on where to stay, and how to travel this route over two days via train.
Spending a partial day in/near Vezelay is an interest, but we are unsure on how to work the transportation back to Paris including that stop over two days.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
As an alternative to Vézelay (think that is what you are looking for) you can take the train to really lovely Auxerre. Or Montbard for visiting Fontenay Abbey. You can also visit from there hilltop village Flavigny-sur-Ouzerain and if Gallo-Roman history is of interest MuséoParc Alésia. You will need a taxi for these places.

Fontenay Abbey is a wonderful option. We drove, so I'm not sure how you get there from Montbard, but if you can make it, it is a really nice choice.
