Best way to travel from CDG airport to Bayeux without using the train

Hello All, Because of our arrival time at De Gaulle taking the train to Bayeux will not be possible. What is the best alternative means of transportation of getting us there? We are arriving 10.29.19. Booking the train back to Paris to finish our trip there will not be a problem. So this would be a one way trip. Any guidance would be helpful.
Thanks in advance...

What time are you arriving? You could rent a car and drive, but that is not advisable if you are just arriving from North America or somewhere else where you could be jet lagged.

Hello Jim,

What time do you land at CDG? Everything I can see is the last train is at 8:44pm out of Paris St Lazare but the problem is I don't see a later bus. Probably because it's more than 4 hours by bus - versus 2ish hours by train - the buses don't want to arrive at 2 or 3 in the morning.

The buses generally got to Caen so you'll need to stop there or find the last leg from Caen to Bayeux. The last train I see there is 10:52 PM but it's close so there may some other local options. Or maybe Caen is close enough for you in the morning.

Is staying overnight in Paris not an option? If not then you're probably looking at some kind of rideshare or hired driver option.
Keep in mind that you're looking at a 2-3 hour drive and if you're starting later than 9:00pm you're going to be late into Bayeux however you get there.

Some more details may help - good luck,

We arrive late morning from ORD and do not want to rent a car. However, we would be interested in private or even shared transportation.

Jim, I am confused. You originally said:

Now you say:

We arrive late morning from ORD and do not want to rent a car.

Which is it, Charles de Gaulle or Orly? And if you arrive late morning, that is plenty of time to get to Bayeux by train.
Even if you arrive in the evening too late for a train, there are no later options. Buses are slower and less frequent than trains. If you are too late to get to Bayeux the same day, the best option is to stay the first night in Paris.

However, we would be interested in private or even shared transportation.

That would not exist to Bayeux. You could book a taxi to take you all the way, that would be "private transport", but that would be very expensive. Train or driving are the normal methods of transport the French would use.

If you're arriving late morning you should be able to make the train to Bayeux since they run until 8:45 at night. A 5:00pm train would certainly be a generous time allowance to get into the city, get some lunch and get the train station.

If you'd rather not bother with a car and just hire a driver out I'm sure that's possible if pricey. It's a common enough excursion that I'm sure these services exist already but I don't have any experience with this.

One example - not an endorsement - just a web search:

Have a great trip!

ORD means O'Hare. The OP has been quite clear that they are arriving at CDG and now we know the trip to Paris is from Chicago and they apparently do not want to take the train although that could change when they see the available options.

@ Jim, If you do not want to rent a car (good idea) and do not want to or cannot take the train, that, IMO, means hiring a car and driver. Shuttle Inter which I normally use for pickups from the airports when I do not want to take a taxi, may do it. Email them at http://www.shuttle-inter.com/contact.html to see if they will. In another life when someone else was paying and making the reservations, I have used the very expensive but very good Euro Jet Set http://www.jetsetprestigium.com/ and I know they will drive you to Normandy from CDG. Cost will probably be around 600€

you say that you are arriving mid morning but a train isn't possible. Clearly taking a train is possible, so it might help clarify if you explain why you don't want to take the train. A private car will be €€€€€

The OP arrives into CDG from ORD, which is Chicago O’Hare airport. They didn’t mention anything about Orly.

Perhaps Jim, our OP, is using something like RailEurope which only shows part of the schedule.

Jim, I think Nigel is probably on to something. If you can tell us the actual time of your flight arriving from Chicago into Paris Charles de Gaulle, we can show you the trains that are available later that day and which you might consider taking, given possible delays and the like.

If you have another reason for not wanting to take the train, of course that won’t matter — so if you could explain if that is the case, we’ll steer clear of talking about the train options that you may not be seeing depending on where you are looking at timetables.
