best way to travel from Avignon, France to Colmars-Les-Alpes without a car

My husband and I are traveling from Avignon, France to Colmars-Les-Alpes, France without a car. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what would be the best way to do this? It seems to be more challenging to travel, west to east and vice versa compared to north to south and vice versa. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rome2Rio.com will lay out some options for you. All involve a final leg by taxi or rental car.

Sometimes Rome2Rio doesn't know about all the bus service, so it may be fruitful to Google: bus to Colmars les Alpes. I got some promising looking hits, but they are in French.

You are definitely right about the west-to-east thing. For that very reason I decided to make two south-to-north trips in France, one in the east and one in the west.

According to my web search, there is very limited public transportation to Colmars-les-Alpes - a bus route HV1 which links the village to Thorame Haute station on the Nice-Digne railway line, with one bus in the early morning and one in the evening. The morning bus has a tight connection with the first train from Digne (0715 from Digne) but is too early to connect with a train from Nice. You could always get a cab from Thorame Haute but I have no idea how easy one would be to obtain. My personal feeling is that this spot is too hard to get to without personal transportation.

Thank you for this helpful information. It looks like I will need to get some help from a french friend who can translate.
