Best way to get from Paris to Toulouse

Hi all,

I plan on traveling from Paris to Toulouse in August 2015 and my day of travel will be a Saturday and I was after some advice on the easiest and cheapest way to get there. I do not want to drive as I think it would be too big a drive in one day for us.

There will just be my wife and I with luggage.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can fly with either easyJet or Air France in under 90 minutes, although security and luggage procedures and the commute to and from airports will more than double that time. SNCF runs many high-speed trains, the TGV, but not at truly high speed on this western route. The direct service takes about five and a half hours, leaving and arriving from the city cores. Prices probably will be comparable although train tickets don't go on sale, usually, until three months ahead.

The fastest trains from Paris to Toulouse are around five and a half hours. You can book at www.capitainetrain.com, with the cheapest fares available about three months before the journey time (so you won't find anything for next summer now).

Alternatively, both Air France and Easyjet offer flights from Paris to Toulouse, but when comparing the times, remember to include the journeys between city centres and airports and the time spent in security queues and departure lounges.

You don't say if you are staying in Paris beforehand. If you are flying into Paris from elsewhere and want to go straight to Toulouse, a connecting flight from the same airport will be easier than the train.
