Two couples traveling thru Spain then on a river cruise using LeBoat down the Canal de Midi. We end at Narbonne and wish to go to the Beaches of Normandy. We get off the boat on 9/30/15 and will need to be back in Paris for departure on 10/6/15.
You can travel by train but it'll take pretty well all day and you'll have to cross Paris by metro. September is too far ahead to book trains (they go on sale 90 days in advance) but you can check current times and prices on the SNCF website or Capitaine Train. Make sure you leave at least an hour to get from Gare de Lyon to Gare Saint Lazare in Paris - there's a direct, relatively fast metro route on Line 14 but it's best not to rely on perfect connections.
Alternatively, at the moment, HOP, a budget airline subsidiary of Air France, is offering through air tickets from Montpellier to Caen changing planes at Lyon, with a claimed flight time of just over three hours. That may be preferable if you don't want to spend all day on a train.
Thank you so much for taking the time and giving me a layout of what I would have to through to get from one end France to the other. Much more complicated than I had figured. So I'm going to look into the flight you were recommending.
Thank you again
