Best Way to Get from EuroDisney to Monet's Garden

Hi Folks,

In a bit more than a month I'll be meeting up with my sister and her husband at Disneyland Paris (DLP) to run my first half marathon! We'll be staying on-site for three nights (part of the required package with the ticket for the run), so we are working on doing French day trips from there. We've also been to Paris before, so we are planning some trips for sites we've missed. I'm pretty confident about getting to and from central Paris using the RER, but I have a more complicated situation for our other day trip. On Sept 26th we are hoping to visit Monet's Garden in Giverny. We'll be starting at Disneyland Paris in the morning. At the end of the day I'll be hopping on a train to Baden Baden, while my sister and her husband will be flying back to Germany late at night (at 8:50pm). Here are the options I've considered thus far:

  • Rent a car for the day trip to Giverny, picking up the car in the morning and dropping it back off at DLP. Then we each get on our appropriate trains to Baden Baden/Airport from DLP.
  • Taking the RER into Central Paris, then the appropriate train out to Giverny and back. Maybe bring luggage with us and split up earlier?

I'm not sure what option makes the most sense time/money wise, or if another option could also exist. Any thoughts/wisdom?

Unfortunately, there is no best way. It's three hours by RER, train and bus to get there, which you can check on rome2rio.com. It will be two hours to get back into Paris. If you were to take the train, you could leave your luggage at the train station luggage storage in Paris, but the station you need, St. Lazare doesn't have luggage storage.

Driving is 100 miles and 1.5 hours, not counting the time to pick up the rental, find your way, traffic jams, etc.
You can check the driving on viamichelin.com.

If you were to drive, the most sensible thing to do is drop the car at the airport afterwards, not return all the way to Paris-Disney.

With the train option as noted above, there is no luggage storage at Gare Saint Lazare. I think that accounting for traffic, it will take you less time to drive from Giverny to CDG than to Disney. For that reason plus the lack of luggage storage at Gare Saint-Lazare, I think that the rental car with the drop off at CDG is the better option. You could take the RER into Paris to catch your train. The last train leaves at around 7 PM so the timing could really work for you. However, if you decide that you prefer the train, there is luggage storage at the City Locker (Rue Godot de Mauroy). That location is about a 5-minute walk from the Auber stop on RER A and about 10 minutes from Gare Saint-Lazare.
