Best Way to Get from Bruges to Amboise

My family of three would like to travel from Bruges to Amboise area on the Belgium National Holiday on July 21, 2024. Will trains run on this holiday?

Is a series of trains the best way to get to Ambiose area? Or are their companies offering a private driver service? We will not have a car.

Our ultimate destination is Bordeaux, so considering an overnight stop along the way in Ambrose to experience the Loire Valley.

Thanks for information and recommendations.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't have trains running.

A car service for a trip of over 500 km would be eyewateringly expensive, and they would likely want to be compensated for the empty return trip

Going by train would take about the same amount of time (5 1/2 -6 1/2 hours) but require at least 3 changes. Note that the Amboise train station is about a kilometer outside town, and taxis are not usually waiting- it's a very small way station.

Without a rental car, I'm not sure how much of the Loire you could experience in an afternoon, but if you arrived early enough you could tour the Chateau ruins or da Vinci's Close Luce and then have a nice dinner.

OTOH, you could take the train to Bordeaux in about the same amount of time, with only 2 changes.

I would travel straight to Bordeaux by train. Even as a resident of the Loire Valley I would say that Amboise really isn't worth the diversion, despite what RS says.

All you'll do is encounter is a small town full of RS readers trying to convince themselves they did the right thing by coming.

(Perhaps as someone who does guided tours of the Loire Valley I shouldn't say that, but of all the sites in the Loire Valley Amboise and Chambord are amongst the least interesting)
