My wife and I want to go from Aix-en-Provence to Annecy on May 30. We seem to be having some difficulty in planning this leg of our trip. We would like the easiest way to get there. The train has either 1 or 2 changes which we would like to avoid. The computer shows that a Marseille change would be ok, but to avoid going to Lyon Part-Dieu. It would be difficult to go up and down the stairs to the platforms with heavy luggage.
We would appreciate any suggestions you have for our upcoming trip.
The Marseille platforms seem to be easier because it appears that the "voies" are on the same level.
Your input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
www.rome2rio.com also shows a bus between them. Flixbus. Once a day direct, no changes. We have used Flixbus other countries. They are nice, comfortable newer coaches. You luggage goes down below.
There should be an afternoon train from Aix TGV that goes to Valence TGV, where you take a connecting train to Annecy. That's a more relaxed station than Lyon. But even Lyon Part Dieu isn't that bad, escalators and elevators are available. The problem is the crowds - I would aim for at least 15-20 minutes for the connection.
