Best transportation plan for Sunday-Thursday stay in Paris

We will be arriving in Paris on a Sunday via TGV from Annecy, and staying four nights, then needing to get to CDG for our Thursday flight back home. What is the best way to plan for transportation around town and to the airport? Is the Navigo pass our best bet, even though we won’t be there a full week? We plan to stay in Paris, not leaving the city for any day trips, and would likely take buses and the Metro. It’s been seven years since our last visit, and I know things have changed with the passes and carnets.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I might simply purchase a Navigo Easy card (2€) and load it with tickets t+ (1.90€ each, 14.90€ for groups of 10), particularly if you are taking a taxi to CDG on Thursday.

If you are taking the RER B or Roissybus to CDG on Thursday, you might consider a Navigo Découverte card (5€), properly configured (name and photo), and load a zone 1-5, Monday to Sunday pass costing 22.80€. This would leave you without transportation on Sunday unless you purchased a zone 1-2 day pass for 7.50€. Both passes can be simultaneously loaded onto the Navigo Découverte.

Thanks, Tocard! I appreciate the way you broke that down. Is there an easy way to get photos in Paris for the Navigo Decouverte, or it is best to bring our own?

I bring my own. Since I keep a scanned copy of my drivers license and passport, I just cut, paste & resize either of those photos to meet the Navigo-D dimensions. Or take a selfie and do the same on your computer. I usually bring a few and can be printed on regular paper. Photo paper not necessary.
